Wordpress is just gives you user interface customize your site. This tutorial will help you to how take your complete wordpress sites database by automatically with plugin called "WP DB BACKUP". With this plugin we can perform backup immediately or schedule backup.
By default this plugin will take backup of your entire wordpress including Spam, Post, Comments and ETC. If you are site adding content daily, You should take daily backup. Setup a dedicated gmail account for this purpose. I suggest you to set schedule backup options.
Backup Your Uploaded Files From Server :
It is very simple to backup your uploaded files like Images, Videos, Documents. Simply login to FTP server by using FileZilla or any other FTP client. You can do it from your hosting server with any using any FTP clients.
After login to your FTP server. Just copy your wordpress content folder to your computer. WP Content will contain all your information about plugins, themes, and uploaded files. I recommend do this backup for every two weeks.
One more important thing is copy Wp Config.php file to your computer. This is file works on how your wordpress communicate with your database. If any time your wordpress crashes these two wp-content and wp-config files are enought o take back your wordpress safely.
If your replacing your content to another site, install wordpress on that domain and replace these two wp-content and wp-config files your new wordpress site will run properly with your old database.
